All Francesco Russo products are made using materials that are rigorously selected by expert craftsmen. The superior quality of the Francesco Russo product enhances the distinctive characteristics of vegetable tanned leather, such as the natural and shiny appearance of the surface - that does not, however, hide the leather’s original features such as the grain and small folds and wrinkles. This quality is obtained through applied research into traditional tanning techniques. The calf leather is tanned unique with vegetable based tanning ingredients: extracts of crushed wood, bark and fruit that are mixed together according to traditional methods. The slow treatment process in a pit leads to higher quality. and provides natural protection against aging. In fact, as this leather is not artificially treated, it is subject to natural oxidation from the plant tannins, which are visible in the characteristics change in coulour over time, especially in the case of exposure to direct light.
